SUMMARY:Dogs Playing for Life: Stranger Danger! Webinar
DESCRIPTION:At Dogs Playing for Life’s Stranger Danger webinar\, hosted by Aimee Sadler\, CEO and Founder of DPFL\, you will learn how to work with dogs that are wary of strangers by building their confidence and helping them develop new skills which will enable them to meet new people (and potential adopters) happily and successfully! Even for the private dog trainer or dog owner\, the skills taught in this webinar will help support your stranger danger dog to expand their comfort level when meeting new people at home! \nThis webinar will demonstrate:\n— DPFL’s Assess and Progress approach: fluttering between assessing and influencing behavior to determine how a dog might respond WITHOUT proper human support to determine what training is necessary for successful placement\n— Comprehensive Tool Selection: determining what tool will best support the dog while keeping the handler and others safe during the learning process\n— Principles vs. Methods: determining what approach will teach the dog as efficiently and effectively as possible\n— Creative Proofing: conducting training with the goal of solid generalization of new skills so that dogs are able to work for multiple handlers with clarity and confidence \nCome learn how to safely and effectively reach this segment of the canine population through in-depth behavior analysis\, dynamic video examples\, and practical approaches designed for anyone who is trying to find solutions for the dogs who need this extra human support. \nThis is a 1.5-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. This webinar will NOT be recorded and is scheduled on EASTERN TIME. \n\n\n\n\n\nSIGN UP FOR "STRANGER DANGER! ADVOCATING FOR AND ADVANCING YOUR HUMAN-REACTIVE DOGS"

SUMMARY:Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative Webinar
DESCRIPTION:This webinar has ended. Please click here to view the recording. \n  \nMillions of households have surrendered companion animals to shelters due to a lack of available pet-inclusive rental housing (Michelson). The Michelson Center for Public Policy recently presented a bill to remove barriers for low-income families and homeless pet owners to access fair housing. \nPlease join Vince Wong as he discusses the results of their comprehensive study on pet inclusive housing and Kelsey Gilmore-Futeral\, Esq. will share Florida's proposed legislation and tips for how we can help support the legislation and pet inclusive housing in Florida. \n  \nClick here to register for the webinar. \n  \nMeet our speakers: \n  \nKelsey Gilmore-Futeral\, Esq.: Legislative Attorney -- Best Friends Animal Society \nKelsey grew up in South Dakota where she developed her passion for animal welfare. She moved to Charleston\, SC to compete on the equestrian team at the College of Charleston and stayed in the Holy City for law school\, where she co-founded the Charleston School of Law's Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapter and graduated magna cum laude. Kelsey served as the chair of the SC Bar's Animal Law Committee from 2015 - 2018 and has served as an officer on the board of directors for Alliance of Therapy Dogs\, the nation's premier dog therapy registry\, since 2010. The former SC State Director for the Humane Society of the US\, Kelsey is now a legislative attorney with Best Friends Animal Society\, managing legislative and policy priorities in 19 states with the overarching goal of ending the killing of healthy and treatable animals in America's shelters by 2025. She lives just outside Charleston\, SC with her husband\, four rescue dogs\, and horse. \n  \nVince Wong: Director of Government Relations -- Michelson Center for Public Policy \nVince Wong serves as Director of Government Relations for the Michelson Center for Public Policy and is the primary liaison to elected officials\, government agencies\, and civic organizations. He launched two of Michelson Found Animals’ most impactful programs – the Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative\, created to field research that demonstrates the benefits of pet-friendly housing to owner/operators\, residents and communities; and the Better Neighbor Project\, creating partnerships with human services organizations to develop collaborative programs that support underserved communities and their pets. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Dogs Playing for Life: Approach to On-Leash Reactivity Webinar

SUMMARY:Dogs Playing for Life: "Fancy Footwork" Webinar
DESCRIPTION:While playgroups are the foundation of our shelter training program\, teaching shelter teams how to implement a generalized\, effective\, and enjoyable way to handle and train their dogs is another essential aspect of our canine programming! In this webinar\, we will teach the fundamentals of our “Fancy Footwork” techniques that focus on achieving good leash manners through the use of your FEET instead of your hands. Come learn this unique and highly effective approach that promotes dogs happily walking softly by your side\, offering tons of eye contact\, and wowing adopters! This new approach to leash work will enhance your handling skills and increase your ability to train ALL dogs\, even those that are highly aroused\, stressed\, fearful\, or not motivated by food\, all in an effort to improve quality of life and lifesaving for dogs living in shelters. \nAdditionally\, we will teach you how to implement our critically important kennel routines. The kennel areas of our nation’s shelters can be one of the most challenging and distressing environments that dogs–and their handlers–ever face. DPFL kennel routines have been developed and taught to shelters across the country in an effort to combat these challenges and to provide safer and more successful ways for dogs and people to maneuver through the kennels. \nThis is a 1.5-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. This webinar will NOT be recorded and is scheduled on EASTERN TIME. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSIGN UP FOR "FANCY FOOTWORK: PRACTICAL HANDLING AND TRAINING SOLUTIONS FOR THE ENTIRE SHELTER"
